What a great forum. I first learned of BWH magizine while living in Alaska from 1995 - 1998. I spent many good time up there. I liked the magizine because it harked my back to the way my grandparents lived back in Indiana when I was younger. The only modern convience was the addition of electricty way back in time '40 's / '50's ?
I am luck enough to remember having the old blind milk cow, fresh eggs from the coop, the smell of wood/coal burning to heat and cook with, and the kindness of a very loving family who knew what really mattered was each other. I have the good fortune to have had some of the "old ways" ingrained into who I am today.
I left my home to join the military when I was 20 and wanted to see the world. Well, I have that and now with retirement quickly approaching I am being drawn back to the simple/hard working life of my youth.
I have checked out many of the threads on here and am very happy to see others with my mind set. Thanks for the inspiration and I am sure that I will need a lot of tutoring on the "new ways" of simple living.
Best Regards,
John

Welcome to BHM. I found this site looking through the alaska forums, checking land prices. I have not seen the magazine, except online, but everything you may want to know seems to be right here on the forum. I did buy the Tshirt though * 8)

Thanks for the warm welcome! Alaska land with the availibility to mine on would be great! I would settle for good placer river/creek. I am in Colorado now, but I do have a standing job offer in Anchorage, if I can convince my wife to deal with the cold and snow...lol. I have seen the magizine sold here in Colorado Springs at some of the bookstores, and my local libary subscribes to it as well. I like to hold a book in my hands when I read, it just fells right to me.
Best Regards,
John
