Curious just what a facilitator is, their duties. How they differ from a moderator? How does one determine which is which or both? And lastly, does it matter?

Being a moderator brought on alot of strife and issues with people who have grudges against me, junk that I was not interested in dealing with. *I left the site entirely because of such stuff. *I am back in the role of facilitator. *That means I sort of start idea threads and find info for people as needed in the boards my name is on. *I have NO moderator priveledges at all. *Oliver could not get the boards to specifiy which is which but i posted what this was about in Hellos when I returned.
Why do you ask? *Do you have an issue with that?
I might add in case there are issues that I wanted to be designated a facilitator because people also had issues about posting too much, too often, being a know it all etc. etc. etc. and I thought being designated a faciltator would reduce the issues in case I crossed a line somewhere. Wouldn't want to get anyones undies in a bunch!

I'm glad someone asked this question as I've been meaning to post something about it.
Debbie said much of this, but to reiterate...
A facilitator is someone knowledgeable about one or more subjects who enjoys sharing their knowledge and is willing to initiate and help keep threads moving in certain boards.
They have no moderating powers. They do not edit, move, lock, or remove posts. They just post and share what they know, perhaps help out new members with questions, find a resource for someone who's having difficulty...that sort of thing.
A facilitator is usually living the life or has a lot of experience with their subject(s).
If that sounds like you, and you might be willing to be a facilitator in a certain board, please let me know via PM.
Thanks.
Oliver
Added: You can tell a moderator from a facilitator by looking under their name on a post. It will say one or the other.

Deb,
I noticed that all the mods had facilitator on them in each category and was curious. That sounds interesting to me and can stimulate conversation in the assorted topics. Now that you have explained i it's purpose to me, I think it is rather a good idea.
Thank you,
Pine
