Hi, Just wanted to say howdy and introduce myself.

I came across this site while looking for advice on sharpening chainsaws and found so much more. What a wealth of information and experience. Brilliant. I'm so impressed I may even take out a subscription to the magazine.

I live in central France, but don't hold that against me. The French jokes are good and I may have to use them on some of my friends here. I'm from South Africa originally and have been living in the UK for the last 10yrs. My wife, two kids and cat came out 2yrs ago while I commuted back to London, not easy but these things gotta be done. I've been out here almost a year now and we are busy renovating a barn into a family home. Oh we also added an Akita to the family.

The main reason for the move was to get out of the rat race that is London and get back to a simpler way of life...We're loving it.

Thanks for all the great advice and articles so far and I look forward to many more and maybe even contributing some of my own.

Thanks for the welcome 333,

Since my writen French is even worse than my spoken French I hope you don't mind me replying in English. Like you I'm learning a bit every day (sometimes a whole load) but it's not easy. C'est la vie.

We're in Ruffec in the Charente, which is about two hours northeast of Bordeaux, between Angoulême and Poitiers. Not a bad part of the world. Big farming comunity, very friendly people who've been a great help to us.

Do you get over here at all?

Peace

Nice , have driven near there, first time I ever saw a snail farm. We stopped for food at a local "family" restaurant, man they know how to live and eat. Absolument. Yea, Normandy, most of the Gironde , Bordeaux, Cape Ferret, area,a little San Barritz, San Sebastion, Spain once, Guggenheim, Perrigeux ,Dordogne,(those castles and cave drawings) Baynac? Les Eyess? absolutely c'est manifique,

Been a few years for me though, wife goes for summers. It not too expensive to do, but rather wait a few years and be able to stay 5 -6 weeks when i go, it feeels much better than a 1-2 week vacation, nes pas. Besides not to many bosses want to hear you going abroad every summer.

Peace
