Anyone here living in Idaho? That's where we are considering wandering to, and just wanted someone I could ask questions of about the place....we are specifically going to check out Orofino area. :-/

There are a few people from Idaho here, I live in S. E. Idaho in Ashton. I lived in Orofino for about a year it was ok but that was about 25 years ago. Had to go to Lewiston for a lot of things. Orofino is real hilly, in a canyon just about every place you need to go is uphill or downhill, but it was pretty. Don't know what its like now though.

Thanks, Joy. The other place we are looking at on the map is Kooskia. We like the rolling hills, but I don't want to live "down in a hole", lol! How was the weather around that area? I'm a deep southern gal and I know there is going to be snow, but I've got to guage that before I know if I can handle it, again LOL! I've been through ID while traveling, but not to sight see. Hubby says it's just beautiful. We are wanting to get out of this deep south HOT, away from people and back to basics. We plan on coming out that way when spring has really sprung to early summer to explore.

The winters up there were not too bad, snow, of course but not like I get here. If you are looking at a map from the Montana border to Lewiston is pretty much a canyon, all the towns there run along the river. I thought it was kind of humid in the summer but I'm used to real dry anyway. some other places you might look are Salmon, Challis, Soda springs, over by Boise they don't really get much snow at all Its hotter in the summer though. My bro and sil moved to Salmon from cal last year. In cal they couldn't afford to buy anything, and now they have two houses. She is an R.N. and was hired on the spot. Do you want northern Idaho for a particular reason? Just curious.

We don't want to be close to any big cities, I mean want to be several hours away so they won't encroach into our area. Hubby is big hunter, loves to fish and we want to be close to public lands where we can do all of that. Someone on his hunting forum that lives in ID recommended the Clearwater County area for what we are looking for. He said the weather wasn't too bad there and the hunting/fishing would be good.
Interesting what you said about your bro and the houses....that tells us living is cheaper. We live and will live very simply, so that would suit us fine. :-*
