I recently found this site that shows how to make a Berkey system. Interesting and easy to do.

I actually built my own and it worked. I have a berkey (http://www.bigberkeywaterfilters.com) light, but I wanted a second system for camping. It definitely works, but I wouldn't use it in my house.

Just curious, why wouldn't you use it in your house?

Tuf, I wondered that, too.
Stretch - do you mean that you wouldn't use it in place of your Berkey? If so, that answers our question. :)
Windjammer - that's a great link that I'm sure many will appreciate. Thanks! Actually, though, I was hoping it had to do with the actual Filters. A hundred bucks a pop hurts my wallet.
For now, we get distilled water for $.20 cents / gal at a local place but we keep a Berkey for Justin Case.

sorry i haven't been around to answer your question. I was strictly speaking from an aesthetics point of view. My home made berkey looks homemade and my girlfriend wouldn't allow it in her kitchen...lol.
