Potential Home (http://s337.photobucket.com/albums/n378/B00kW0rm908/?albumview=slideshow)

I joined BWH about a year ago. *Being totally new to the self-sufficiency way of thinking...I was FULL of questions. *Questions that were very graciously answered!

Soon after joining our property search came to a halt. *We were still searching available homes and property but the hold up was the state. *We live in NC and the DOT is widening the road where we live now and, as part of that project, will be buying our home.

Governmental red tape and budget woes have affected the timeline. *We were first told an initial offer would be made this past September. *Then, December. *Then, they couldn't begin to tell us a time frame...LOL. *Is anyone really surprised by that??

Finally, we have a meeting with the DOT representative (next Tuesday) and will be receiving our first offer. *In the meantime, we've be veiwing homes...looking for just the right spot for us. *The link above will take you to a slide show of the home we toured yesterday and very much liked!

Oh, for frame of reference, we are in the foothills of NC.

Bookworm,
* That looks like a nice house with room on the property for planting. *I hope it all works out with the DOT and the sale of your current house.

Hi Andy,

Thank you:-). We believe this property would give us plenty of room for planting....the house sits on 5.4 acres.

Andy, this is Bookworm, not Bookwormom.... *;D\

B00kW0rm, I really like that house... I think I like the kitchen counters as much as anything else!

Very very nice and welcome. I have always loved knotty pine and it looks like you have a little of everything. I also hope you get what your house is worth

Thank you all for the warm welcome and well wishes.

We are very much looking forward to this change of location. Moving onto five secluded acres would seem like heaven compared to living beside a major interstate highway.

The plans are to start small...probably with vegetable gardens, and expand as we learn.
