Horton chomping his teddy bear. I don't know why he does this. He is about 10 months old.

Great looking dogs. We call that "It wasn't me! It was a dog that looked just like me... I swear!" look for our dear Jewel; who from time to time takes it into her head to chew up her soft toys instead of just playing with them.

Horton doesn't really chew up or destroy his toys. He does pull the little plastic eyeballs out first, but he doesn't ruin them otherwise. He only gets soft stuffed animals without the beads in them, from the junk stores. No expensive dog toys.
When he 'chomps', he will do just what he's doing in the picture---when he gets tired or sleepy, he will get a toy, lay down and chomp down on it and hold it in his mouth and fall asleep. Most of the time he falls asleep with it in his mouth, just like this picture. I think it's some kind of comfort thing. I know puppies usually fall asleep suckling a teat when they are nursing, and I've wondered if this is something like that.
They are both such a joy to have around. I have a driveway alarm that beeps, and when I come in the alarm lets them know I'm home, and they go nuts, I can hear them both yowling and howling all the way out in the driveway!

What type of dog is your Horton ? I had a basset once , Interesting story how I stopped the bleeding of his ear when a stray dog tried to tear it off.

How did you get the bleeding to stop?
Horton is a breed called a 'Feist'. Like 'feisty'. I believe George Washington had a Feist or two at some point. Horton's a little toot, very sweet natured and playful. He works very hard to get Suzy to play, but she's kind of old and doesn't play a whole lot.
