Heres my simple solar homestead

This is a 14x14 cabin I designed and built myself for under $2000. Downstairs is aprox. 200 sqft and includes a full bathroom with shower, sink and composting toilet, kitchen with propane stove, fridge, and sink, a living area and dining area for 4 people. The loft is aprox. 200 sqft with 7 feet of headroom and includes a bedroom, office and exercise area.

I live in this cabin year round and I have NO house payments and NO monthly utility bills.

My power is solar and generator. I use propane for fridge, stove, on demand water heater, and furnace. My propane bill was under $200 for all last year.

I have a solar composting toilet of my own design that is better than any commercial model, a solar batch water heater, solar oven and food dehydrator.

I live at the foot of the high uintah mountains with my dogs wally and wilma. I own a small pest control business and only work when I feel like it. I do a lot of camping, photography, and songwriting.

Heres a few more pictures of the homestead and if you want more info contact me at: lamar5292@yahoo.com

I noticed on top of you fridge you have your cloths washer. I have one just like it but have not been to impressed with it. Maybe I put to much into it or not the right soap. Do you have any trouble with yours.

Nice pics by the way

Hi *flatwater, the wonder washer is good for small loads and use only a teaspoon of liquid detergent or you will be rinsing forever. The pressure in the washer forces the soap into the clothes so doesn't take much. *I still use a regular washer for large heavy loads and blankets.

LaMar,

That is an absolutely AMAZING house! :)
That is exactly the type of set-up I am looking for!
Perhaps slightly larger though - we need to accommodate
2 adults, 2 cats, and 2 dogs. However, I will definitely be
checking out your plans and info. Thanks for sharing!!

I'm currently in Illinois, but planning to move "off the grid"
to the Dove Creek, CO area. Praying that everything will
work out for the best! :)
