Hi All,

Old dog, Teddy the most wonderful Rottie in all the world is dying of kidney failure. My brother found this nice yellow lab mix down the road from his farm in East Central Illinois a week ago. Nobody has claimed him and since my brother already has two dogs he wants me to come get this dog and bring him back up to the Northwoods of Wisc. to live with me.

He needs a name and all I can come up with is Biscuit or Sam. Any other ideas on a cool name for this new dog from the members of this forum would be great!!

He may even put a spark in the old dog during his last few weeks here with me! I am going down to Illinois to get the new dog this weekend and hope to have a name for him by then!

Peace, and here is the new dog's picture!

I would wait until you have him for a couple days and see what his personality is like. Maybe he has some little quirk you could name him after. I had an Irish setter name "Nose" once. A friend of mine had a dog named "Bullet" 'cause he was so fast. Had a pet chicken named "Barely" because he barely made it (almost died). Had a tom turkey names "Toes" too much humidatey in the incubator made his toes crooked. Call your brother and ask him if the dog has any fun traits. :D

Hippy , I had a friend that had a old Goldie that had leukemia and went through some real tough medical treatment . They didn't think he'd live six months . That was two years ago . Ya guessed it my friend got a new puppy and the old dog had to stick around and teach him how to be a grown up dog .

How about Amigo for the new dog ?

Hi All,

I have decided not to name the new dog until he has been with me for a while. My brother is calling him Barney and that is ok for now, but I should change it fairly quickly as not to confuse him.

As to my Rottie Ted, to have had him for 12 years is a blessing! He has a heart murmmer that he has had since he was a tiny pup. The vet that I went to when he was young continued to say he wouldn't live to be even 6 years old because of the heart thing, but good old Ted proved that vet wrong. As long as Ted's quality of life is pretty good I will keep him for as long as I can, but he has really bad days most of which I spend laying on the floor with him crying...and that is not good for either one of us!

Thanks for the name suggestions I will let you know what I call this handsome new fellow.

Peace,
Margie

Like Morning Owl stated, you're wise to
wait for a name. He's a very nice looking
animal and he looks very strong. Look at
the size of his back quarters.

God bless Teddy.

Margie you have my sympathy for Ted and his problems. I can only remind you that eventually he won't be in pain anymore.
As for the newbie I too suggest you wait 'til you've had him for a while before naming it. I named my brindle pit mix Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, simple because I like that name. Sometimes I call her "puppy-cat" because she was raised with my cats and sometimes acts like a cat, also she loves to play with them.

How about Hitcher?
He hitched a ride?

I have a black lab pup i picked up on the side of the road--poor little fellow was about 5 months old--patiently waited for someone to pick him up--he's a sweetie---very smart and loves his big bones I bring him.

I hate people who throw animals away.

Hi all,

I am did not get this great dog after all, I moved over the weekend into a house in "town", please see my post on the general board for a brief explanation and maybe help me with a new neighbor problem.

The "yellow dog" is fine, my brother decided to keep him on our farm in East Central Illinois, and since I had to move to town for the present time that is probably for the best.

I often look at the yellow dog's picture and wish he was here with me as Ted the Rottie continues to fade. I can't imagine that Ted will be with me much longer...oh so sad!!

And I would have named the yellow dog Buck for all interested parties, I have even ask my brother to change his name from Barney to Buck!

Peace,
Margie

Name him "Sparky"..... ;D

LOL. I actually chose my user name based on a friend's very personable border collie/mix.

He looks like a good dog...I hope he went to a nice home.
