Anyone else got any Grizzly machines? I got a lathe from them and sometimes I like it, and sometimes I don't. They could not for 6 months get me the one I paid them up front for, I finally had to settle on a less expensive model that was in stock, but had same dimensions roughly same features. Got it and set it up, and it is an effen back gear lathe which really aggravates me, and I am going to have to call them about several other issues. However I have cut some beautiful threads, and done some fine work, however some of it has really been luck I think.............. Maybe I am just spoiled with the ACRAs we had at school, but still. I expect some things to be universal.

Grizzly is a low end importer of tools from China. You can get decent enough tools out of them, but they certainly are not high end.

You get what you pay for.

My brother is a cabinet maker and he is always going to Grizzleys tent sales here in Williamsport PA. Must be something in what they have that he likes.

I use their cabinet table saw with extension table as well as a jointer and they are good quality items. I find them extreamly accurate and easy to set up and use.

They have some good lathes, and some I wouldn't wish upon an enemy.

So far, I'm on my sixth metal lathe. I did own a Grizzly 12 X 36 for about 5 years (G4003) and it was a good lathe with more features than I could get on any other lathe in the price range. It could keep closer tolerance than I could hold! I hated to get rid of it but job relocations kept me moving and the thing just got too heavy. Currently I'm down to two lathes. A 7 X 12 and a Lathemaster 9 X 30. I can tell you the Lathemaster is a nice lathe for the money.

I have the big catalog but all I have gotten from them is sanding disks (carbide) and diamond drills, etc.
