I am trying to work up the courage to get into leatherworking. I plan on making holsters and knife sheaths, maybe belts to start with.
I have been reading and read that chrome tanned hide can take off the blueing on a gun, I should use vegatable tanned leather. Is there a sure-fire way to tell which type of leather it is. I don't want to ruin a good pistol using the wrong kind of leather. Also, any reccomendations of any good books to read would be great. Thanks,
