Hi all,

Could I have your opinions on this method of building a boat please.
One of my main preparedness worries is flooding. I have had several narrow escapes from flooding here in the uk and had thoughts about building a small canoe.

I have considered buying a small inflatable dinghy but pricewise I cant really afford it at the moment. Secondly, with all the debris floating about i thought an inflatable might be a bit risky.

I thought it could be a good hobby project for the summer.

I found some really interesting plans for a one sheet boat called the prism, it doesnt look too complicated to build, it wouldnt be used for recreation, (if it did it would only be on inland waterways and canals) More a bug out boat ;D

hope its ok to post a link to this

I may be female, i may be 40ish, but i have the powertools and i'm not afraid to use them.

Your thoughts and comments would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks ;D ;D

Best wishes,
April

Hi April,

Did you see the small boats under the Hands-on section, hands-on How-to shows several different designs, most are from one sheet also ?

I did browse the section but somehow managed to miss those.

Best wishes,

I ran across these plans a few years ago. Never did make it.

If you`re not concerned with looks, then why not go with a pontoon- style. Get a hold of some barrels, build an appropriate deck for it, big enough to hold whatever you want to save, attach it to the barrels and chain it to a good tree so no one tries to steal it, and even test it out if you can at a lake or river to see if it floats properly.
