I own a small sawmill operation and I am about to get an order to fill for 'switch matched' wood. The order is from a cabinet maker and he wants me to label each piece as it comes off then saw. Can anyone explain to me what this is? I pride myself is giving my customers what they ask for, but this is a first for me and I want to get it right.

I could be wrong but I think it might be where you cut two pieces turn one over and you have the same pattern only oppisit. It looks real nice for the cabinet doors. Here would be an example <> {}.

Flatwater has it right, but the normal term is called "book matched". You can google that up and get millions of hits.
Here is a good example. The woodworker flipped the boards to create a "firebird" type pattern on the doors.
