I'm tired of cheap dado sets, and have decided to spend some cash on a decent set.
Freud and Forrest have what seem to be comparable sets, at comparable prices.
Opinions on which a is better brand?

I've used the Forrest and am happy with it. I've never used the Freud.
I own the Freud set and i'm happy with it... BUT, i've talked to several other cabinet makers that have the Forest set, and say it's a really good set!!
Forest has a reputation for selling some of the best sawblades made...
Even though i like my Freud, i'd probably buy the Forest on their reputation alone. Also they have a resharp shop if you ever need it...

thanks - i'll look at the forrest. i like the fact that the freuds have the teflon coating on the blades, but it seems that the forrests get a better rating.

I've got a Freud set, probably 10 years old or so. It performs beautifully. I did invest in a set of magnetic vinyl shims so I can get precisely the fit I want. I would recommend both to anybody.
The Forrest is probably a bit better, but for most people, either will do very nicely. Amana and Infinity are two other blades that I've used and are comparable to the Freud.
