I made my living building metal furniture pre 911.mirrors.wood top tables, wine racks, heat colored and laquered copper ,glass marble top and brass top tables.were my main stay but the most fun was a wood laptsrake canoe which weighed 27lbs and i got 2,000$for ten years ago .as life for me is now at a turning point returning to where I left off seems like the logical choice. It is my understanding almost half of youre time has to be spent in marketing be it galleries or shows will gladly answer questions

How did you address "what" you made? Did you research for a market then produce or produce and look for markets?

Thanks, Tufhelp

I used to work gold, and silver, before somebody walked away with half of my tools; ain't gold so hard to not melt before you've even touched it?

me & my best friend split the cost on a used plasma cutter & a wire feed welder. wow we have so much fun making things or fixing whatever. its been great for restoring a car. metal is fun. dont be intimidated & give it a try!

I have been working with silver now for several years, not all that hard to learn or do. The cost now is something else again. $4 and change when I got into it, now it's $13 and over per ounce, then you pay extra if you want Sterling in sheet or wire, which is what I use for jewelry making.
I don't do gold, just too much of an investment and the security thing would be 10 times worse, since people now will steal anything not nailed down, it seems.
