how to dig like a mole

we have come to the conclusion we have to dig a hole in front of the door of the cellar, go below the foundation and then mole our way in under the slab a piece. I have been raking my brain what to use, that is going to be a bit difficult. wish we had some kind of auger that could be used. a crowbar will be fine for a couple of feet, maybe a posthole digger, but I am afraid we have to dig at least four feet. any practical ideas would be appreciated.

How about an electric roto tiller? I have seen them at Lowes. Might be able to rent one. they are small like the Mantis. Hope this helps .

Don't they dig holes like that with water sometimes? I dug a trench under a sidewalk that way. A strong spray from the hose and kept feeding the hose into the tunnel..

I wished I could do that, but water is scarce at present. did you use a regular garden hose hooked up to the faucet? Thanks for the pointer.
