I just bought a book on Axes that is just awesome but its an old book. It convinced me to not buy a chainsaw but just go with a couple of good axes. I am not seeming to find any recent buying guides on them. What do you suggest?

I use axes, a one-man crosscut saw and a bucksaw to cut all my firewood.
I've found good old axes at yard sales, antique shops and on eBay.
If your looking for new, Snow and Nealley makes good quality axes. I recieved thier Slip 'n Kindling set as a gift a few years ago.

An axe rather than a chain saw?!
Well, it's true, with rising fuel prices, an axe will have fuel as long as YOU have energy to swing it, whether you have gas or not!
And also, those microsurgeons are getting a lot better at sewing on bits and body parts as they get hacked off than they used to be. . ..

I like using axes as well. I look at it like this: While nieghbors are spending hundreds of dollars on chainsaws (they buy good ones) to cut wood faster so they have time to spend going to their gym, I get to be out in the sun and get my workout for free.
