I'm planning on building a 3 sided shed this summer for firewood storage. I'm thinking of something about 16'x8'. I wondered if anyone knows of plans available somewhere for something like this that would give me a starting point?

Thanks,
Brad

Does it have to be stand alone? The simplest solution is a covered area hanging off an existing shed. The one we are working on is just a roof supported by posts and eves off the side of the shed we're building. Close enough to the house to be convenient, far enough away so that critters don't move into a wood pile against the house.

There are a number of decent books for sale from the BHM general store - http://www.backwoodshome.com/store/files/bu18.html
is an excellent one - I have used ideas from there. I also saw one -

that looks interesting, but can't say how useful it is - have never read the book.

The Dan Beard book "Shelters Shacks and Shanties" is available on-line at http://www.inquiry.net/outdoor/shelter/index.htm
It is a discourse on simple structures made for boy scouts. If not immediately useful, it may get you thinking about what you want to do. The adirondack lean-to may be a good place to start...

beepipes gives good advice....

No doubt a shed is nice...another option is a Holz Hausen...that's how I stack all my wood....not only will the wood dry super fast and stay dry ...there's no addition to your property taxes...I'm super cheap ;)

BKUHN........I DON`T REALLY SEE WHY YOU WOULD NEED PLANS TO BUILD SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS YOU DESCRIBE.DRAW IT ON PAPER AND GET A FRIEND WITH SOME CARPENTER SKILLS TO HELP YOU BUILD IT.ALL YOU NEED IS TO BUILD THE 3 WALLS AND PLACE A BEAM/HEADER ACROSS THE OPEN SPAN WITH ONE POST IN THE CENTER AS A SUPPORT,THEN PUT THE ROOF ON.
BUT HERE IS A SITE FOR PLANS FOR SOMETHING A LITTLE MORE COMPLICATED BUT WITH A LOFT IN IT AS WELL.CHECK UNDER CAR BARNS.
