Interesting Insulation

I was bored and randomly browsing the net today and found this stuff http://www.bondedlogic.com/ it is made from the scrap left-overs when they make jeans. It looks pretty nifty :)

A friend of mine built a new house with a garage about 9 years ago and it plus his pole barn shop are all insulated with that cotton.

I haven't heard him complain about it, so it must be working for him...

pretty interesting. i'll be checking that site out a little more in depth on monday, when i'm "on the clock" at work, since i'm in the process of designing an environmentally friendly office building. my first thoughts are regarding its fire rating...

Fire rating is always a concern with insulation! But also find out what your county requirements are. My county until last year did not require ICBO#'s, now EVERYTHING that counts in the energy dept has to be rated with the ICBO. So look into that as well.

And of course there is always cost!
