Poll Building Construction Information

This spring I would like to add on to an existing barn and create a covered area to store a camper and misc farm equipment. This is my first attempt at any significant construction and I wondered if anyone has discovered any resources on the Internet (or anywhere else) on the basics of this type of construction. I'm looking for everything from the dimensions of lumber needed to provide adequate strength to how the lumber is tied together.

Any ideas that others have found would be greatly appreciated.
