I am in the process of cleaning out the carburetor on my LM2000. The engine is a Honda GX620 (QXA6, GCAD). Thought I’d share a little of what I’ve found for folks that may need more information on this engine.

The model number and serial number is stamped on the engine block. The manual that came with the mill, put out by Honda, not Norwood, is a little misleading. The diagram for locating this information indicates it can be found on/under the starter. I found this not to be true in my case – it is found on the block, under the plastic cover over the flywheel. You will need to remove 6 bolts to pull this plastic cover and the information is on the block on the right side (facing the engine, after pulling the cover).

There is some information on the web that can be found concerning this engine by googling Honda GX620. I have an older mill, and you know how the web is – more information on current models than older models.

This link will take you to a page where the vendor offers a service manual and parts catalog for sale:
http://www.planopower.com/store/honda/index_engines.shtml
(select your engine)

This link will take you to a parts catalog with exploded views of some components:
http://hayward.arinet.com/scripts/EmpartISAPI.dll?MF&app=ASP〈=EN&TF=Mainframe& LoginID=hywd&loginpwd=hywd&Partner=HYWD
(select “AMERICAN HONDA (HAYWARD)” from the catalog drop-down menu and “ENGINE” from the resulting folder tree, then select your model # and SN# range)

This link will take you to a discussion of cleaning the carburetor and setting the mixture screws:

Hopes this helps anyone else out there looking for information. If you have been here and done that, I’d be interested to hear about your experiences or information resources you may have come across.

Regards,
Pat
