I have a couple chainsaws one is 2 years old the other is 1 year old. They havent seen much use. Everytime I use them I pull the chain off. When I start I have the chain tight as could be, but about 5 minutes into using them the chains jump. Anyone have any idea what Im doing wrong?

Thanks

peace,

What make and model? Do you have the owners manual?

When you assemble chain to bar generally it should not be to taught, with 1/8 to 1/4 inch play, cause as you use it the bar and chain heat up and expand, to tight runs risk of breaking both, if the chain is old and worn the retaining teeth that hold the chain in the bar could be of no use any more. Then theres the bar and its "nuts" or what ever is responsible for holding it in place as you operate. If they are worn or failing clogged with debris?

Hope this little info helps, give it a good cleaning and try some lock tite on bar "nuts", inspect chain, bar, and securing hardware for excessive wear or debris.

Please keep in mind the way you cut with it as well, try to operate the saw on the straightest angle you can avoiding twisting or torquing or biting more than the saw can handle. Let the machine do the work so to speak.

Sounds to me like the chain isn't getting enough oil...

You are useing REAL bar oil aren't you? And there IS oil in the saw for the bar isn't there? I mean the tank isn't empty is it?

Does the bar have a roller nose on it, and if so you DO keep it greased don't you?

Let us know more details, and a pict would be nice...
