I am getting my house re-roofed. We get very high winds where I live. The roofing contractor said the best thing to do would be to completely strip the roof so that when he lays the new roofing felt and shingles they lay completely flat. I made a deal with him. He would give me a discount on the roofing if I took care of the stripping. I know this contractor very well. He has an excellent reputation for being the best.
Well I have the roof stripped. I covered it with tarps to protect it. The sheathing underneath is in really good shape. As luck would have it, it decided to rain and snow over the last couple days. NOW I HAVE TWO LEAKS!!!! One is coming down the flashing where the woodstove used to be and the other is coming down around the fan in the master bath. This storm is supposed to blow out of here after tonight. I have two questions:

How badly will this affect the sheathing? I live in the desert. This was not an incredible amount of rain.

What can I do to prevent further damage, and what steps should I take to repair damage now?

Help!!

I'm assuming the sheathing is plywood and not boards?

You'll want to get those tarps away so it can dry out quickly, if you don't have more rain in the forecast! The longer the plywood stays wet, the more it will warp - and will need to be replaced.

Can you tell if the layers are coming apart yet? It'd be good to get your contractor's input on this one!

Good luck!
