Hello all... we're new to life at 7,000 ft and before going haywire with our old sourdough start, I'd like to know if there is anything special we need to do to wither the start or the recipe?
I've searched Google and haven't found anything terribly specific but most cakes, etc. have special instructions.
Any help would be appreciated.

Google - sourdough breads at high altitudes. I think you'll find some helpful information.

Check with your local County Extension Office (Foods Agent) for more high-altitude baking information. I'm sitting here at an altitude of 1225 ft., so don't have any practical experience.

HI Escapepod - I am going to be trying my hand for the first time at baking bread at high altitude. There are some websites with general references as to adjusting liquid, sugar, etc.
The extension office at CSU does provide information (possibly in written form, I'm not sure) and I know they provide info on the website.

I'll let you know how my bread comes out. :)

I've decided to go to the library tomorrow and check out a book on high altitude baking - yea!
