NEW and coveted addition to the family....
Remington 788 in .30-30, I'd say finish on it is only 60%.
Considering I will refinish it myself and NEVER sell it, it will be back up to 99% shortly.
450$
Call me stupid but there is one on Gunbroker for over 1000.

I am new to the FORUM. But, if the rifle is sound otherwise that is a very good price. All guns have gone up in price over the past few year. You already know that since you have been looking.

You done good!

The 788 is one of those rifles that you just cannot figure why they stopped making it. I like the .30-30 caliber to an extreme.
I saw a fellow on one of those TV hunting shows last week drop an American Bison with one shot from a Winchester 94 in .30-30 at 100 yds. That Buffalo fell like a sheet from a clothes line. 1800 pounds I believe was the final weight.

Being a bolt gun, I can load it with premium spitzer bullets, and soup the loads up as I wish, within reason.
I'm looking for a nice steel bodied Weaver to top it off with some nostalgia.

Had a 788 in .243 that I let get away from me.
One of the nicest shooting guns in the world, and one of the stupidest things I have done.
Enjoy your find.

Yessir, one of the first, and hardest to currently find is the .30-30 and of course the .44. Practicality of course makes me want the .30-30 more, however, just like the .30-30. a .44 will walk through the door one day and it will be mine. It is all about odds and time. Been looking for the .30-30 for...........
hmmm....
going on 8 years now.
