Alright, last night I was out hunting with the dog and she treed a opossum. I shot, opossum falls. Okay. Well when I tried to open up the gun (break-action single-shot Model 1929 Eastern Arms 410) it was locked up. Wouldn't break open or anything. So, I took off the forearm, put the barrel against a tree and pushed. The barrel fell off and the shell ejected. Happened twice after that. Any idea on what's wrong?

Is the firing pin getting stuck in the primer ? There should be some type of spring to push the firing pin back into the reciever , it might be broken .

Here's a better answer!
You are probably using 3 inch .410 shells, in a gun chambered for 2 1/2 inch shells.
THAT is a Very Dangerous practice.!!!
Check your Shells, Please!
Many older .410 shotguns were chambered for 2 1/2 inch shells. It should be marked on the barrel, or somewhere. If not I suggest you take it to a gunsmith, to get it checked out.
These older guns are still good serviceable guns, with the proper shells.
I may be wrong.
It is something my younger brother did once. So, I've seen it happen.
Good Luck!

Let us know!
I did that same thing with a old Crescent Arms .410, went off, sounded funny, had a heck of a time getting it open.
Barrel wasn't marked, guess back then you were just supposed to know what you were doing.
Anyway w/some 2-1/2 shells, workd just fine.

Yeah, no markins and have had no trouble before. Checked box of shells and they were 3" MAX loads. All other boxes that have been shot through the old girl are 2.5". Gonna try again if this weather lets up any. Supposed to be 8" of snow by morning.

Take it to a gunsmith and have it checked for chamber length, and if you wish, you can probably have the chamber lengthened to shoot 3'' shells, and as well have the forcing cone lengthened.
OR just be safe and shoot nothing but 2.5'' shells in it.
Odds are the Gents above are correct.

Yep, shoots fine with 2.5". Dumb mistakes are the ones that can kill ya.
