I have a 870 Express Super Magnum with a 30 " Rem Choke barrel. Would shooting rifled slugs through this barrel with the full choke tube in be unsafe? What about the extra full turkey choke tube? I'm familiar with shooting rifles slugs out of fixed bore shotguns but select choke tubes are something new to me.

Would not do it under any circumstances.

Go out and get yourself a cylinder bore/open choke barrel OR I've got the same gun and I put a Poly Choke (brand name) on mine which gives me the option to turn/dial which ever choke I want when I want.

I agree with RangerRick don't do it. Remington makes a screw in tube that is made for shooting slugs .I think it is even rifled if I remember correctly.

Rifled slugs are designed to get their rotation from the choke. Improved Modified is the choke most recommended. I have experimented with Cylinder (no choke), Improved Skeet and Improved Modified. IM was the most accurate and consistent with my 870. Though, my Dad's old Western Field with no choke is the best slug gun I have shot. I guess it just depends.

DO NOT use a turkey full choke.

DEPENDS!!!

If your talking about the old style "foster" slugs, no problem at all... (some times called "rifled" slugs)

They probably won't group well though, unless you use a more open choke...

IF your talking about the newer sabot style slugs, then no, don't do it...
