This is another unfinished lower from our AR Club build up. Notice that it has not been drilled yet- mostly because when we had the artwork engraved we did not want to be handing over a "legally completed" firearm.
This is a pretty deep engraving so once annodized it will be "sub dued" but still very visible.

I hope Disney doesn't mind their registered trademark on an evil black rifle! ;D

Ah but by the rules for 80%'s it can never be sold. And while the idea of Grumpy the dwarf is Disney's the art work is the owner of the gun's.
He's already Grumpy- don't make him peeved. :D

Very nice, how is the engraving done?

We first did the graphics on Corel Draw then took it to a shop that does trophy’s. It cost us about $50.
Now we have access to a 25 watt Epilog laser and “Shot Bot” CNC- both run on Corel Draw too- but no more payments.
An alternate method is acid etching- in short- dip in wax- scratch where you want etching then dip in concentrated battery acid. When done boil the part to get the wax to come totally off.

LaunchPad, do you happen to have the G-codes for CNC for the AR lower? I have a 0% casting I want to try.

sorry for the delay. I've been out training in the field with the military. (The least of the weapons i have built beat the AF weapons hands down.)
Do you mean G-codes for the rece\iever overall or for the Grumpy?
We manually finished up the recievers and Grumpy is done on Corel Draw and imported to the engraving machine.
You may contact Kevin at www.cncgunsmithing.com. most of his work is CNC'd and he does offer a CD with almost all of it and the Solidworks drawings. Kevin is a great guy and may help you out.

Quick question for you Launchpad.
Since the AR has two settings 'Grumpy' and 'Peeved' what would full auto have been? We always called it 'Full Panic'
Nice job on those ARs by the way.

it CAN be sold. it just can't be MADE to be sold. to sell you would have to mark your name, city, state, date of manufacture (i think), and a serial number. you'll have to look around the ATF website to be sure, though.

Well there is a lot of arguement out there on that subject and no clear cut answer that will keep you off these losers bad side- so i am not going to risk it. No one that uses MY shop will be doing so either.
It is simply not worth the hassle or the risk. At least the basics to the 80% lowers is a little bit more clear. no point splitting hairs with the jack-booted-thugs
