I think the Kel-Tec is the only one in that range that I know of. Might be able to get a well used mini-14 though.

Try an NEF or Rossi single shot. They have different barrels. The .223 heavy barrel is (I hear) a great varmint gun.

i saw two mini 14's in the paper the other day for $350 each with accessories such as scope and spare mags.

I nearly added them to my collection except that more expenses than usual in Dec depleted my play money. :(
