280REM vs. 270WSM

280 and the 7mm mag are close to twins.

I have no use for the wssm series of cartridges, I see no practical advantage to them, and ammo is far from common.

I'd take the 280 in a heartbeat, had one in a Model 700 Mountain Rifle, det Mag. Nice gun.

There's really nothing wrong with a 270, i just like the 280 better because heavier bullets are available for it if you handload.

At the time i lived in Alaska and liked to carry my 280 with heavier bullets for the bigger animials i was around. My test proved to me that 175 grain Nosler Partitions would easily "out penetrate" any of the expanding bullets in 270 cal...

I also an not a magnum fan unless your hunting something that needs it!
