Plus I just got a new FarmTek catalog - that's always dangerous!
Anyhow - I had been thinking about a post hole digger attachment for my tractor but pretty much got talked out of it. But it occurred to me I could really use a wagon!
This year I hauled everything around in the bucket, but if I had several yards of stuff to move it took alot of trips... That plus when hauling stuff like flats of plants the curved bucket was not such a good idea... FarmTek has a wagon frame for sale - I am thinking a 4 by 8 bottom would be good for what I need, then make drop down sides or at least one side...
Any suggestions?
*Have you got a link to where i can see it?? *Some of those wagons are pretty junky built!
*I guess it really depends on how much you plan to use it...

and a slightly more expensive version:

I need it to haul bales of hay and straw, to haul mulch and manure and then to haul flats of plants and that kind of thing. Nothing really heavy - heck I would have to shovel or haul it all out at the other end. ;-)
The descriptions they give aren't the best, and aren't very accurate either, but from what i can figure out, i'd buy the heavier duty one... Remember, you will pull it with a load over rough ground, so the better it's built the longer it will last...
Around here, it's easy to find an old running gear used, and fix it up or cut it down to the size you want...
I bought one not long ago for 50 bucks...

I have built a number of trailers over the years and I usually buy an old dual axel camp trailer. tear it down to the bed then lengthen it or shorten it to suite my purpose. I like my ten by seven the best for my tractor. it will haul allot of weight and still manuver well. I have not spent over 500 bucks yet on one.

BUT, you talking trailors, and Deb is talking "running gear" (4 wheeled wagon)

Yes, I am thinking more along the lines of a wagon. Mainly because the more stuff I put on my tiny place the tighter the turning is getting for the tractor! If it was a wagon I could unhook it and pull it around, especially when empty to get into tighter spaces. That is another reason I don't want to go wider than 4 ft. I am trying to configure stuff so that I do have a place for the tractor to turn around where I need it - turns out some of the trees and shrubs I have around had to go to accomodate that!
Other than that I would like the bed to be flat so that I can stack stuff easily on it and would like it to be rather low to the ground.
Looks like maybe I need to take a welding course. Kurt knows a bit about welding too and with that skill maybe we could make something - we have a complete salvage yard full of cool stuff right across the road!

I use a trailer made of the back half of a pickup truck, behind my tractor. It will not haul as much as a 4-wheel wagon, but it is much easier to manoeuvre, particularly backing up.
Look for a dead, long-bed pickup. Should cost less than $200 for a weld shop to turn it into a trailer.

I built a trailer that dumps with a boat winch. It also doubles as a logging arch. The bed is lifted off, easily done with two people, the dump frame then lifted and connected as to make an arch for pulling atv size logs. I made one of these in the early 80's for a tractor, worked very well. Can be made for any size pulling unit down to a lawn tractor, very handy. If I knew how to post a pic I would.
