Some pix, homemade splitter. $25 investment + scrap iron. Splitter detaches so bucket can re-attach. Utilizes existing bucket cylinder. Works great. Will work vertically or stretched out. A handle on the "T" post in the top middle photo controls out/in with cables to joystick. 3rd photo in top row is 30" Hickory. Very first picture is Green Ash being split. I can split anything I can get in it. I may paint it if I get time. Even if it stays dog ugly, it looks beautiful to me.

Cylinder has 18" stroke so I cut wood 17". Already saved $600 this winter on LP gas. Used to heat w/wood, forced by oil companies to do it agin'.

It looks like your splitter works very good for you, good job! They sure save a LOT of work!

Here's the one i put together from parts i had around, and also that i bought at a farm sale... I just drive the tractor over to it, plug the hoses into the rear remotes and go to splitting...

I can put it on the 3 point if i want, but i rarely move it.

I've been using it for several years now, and it really kicks @$$!

After 1,000's of split hand splint cord's of wood, for me the best splitter is after the 3rd whack and no split, I just chain saw it smaller, half the time the saw is in hand any way, so why spend so much ? After all, the wood doesn't need to look pretty, it just needs to burn.

Here are some updated graphics I did that shows the splitter and a few improvements I made. The retractors are a great help in bringing pieces just split back to be split again, especially since the big stuff makes a lot of pieces.
