View Full Version : YOU Have Just Won The Tractor Of Your Dreams!
So, what brand and model did you get??
*I was thinking *NEW, but if you'd rather have used, lets hear it... * :D
*DM
Well, I already have a John Deere 4410 which was my dream tractor when I initially purchased it. *We were living on 26 acres and it was the perfect size. *We have since moved to a lot larger place and although the 4410 has done an outstanding job; sometimes I have encountered situations when I could have used a larger tractor. *So far, I have been able to call on my neighbors for help in that respect for most situations. *It burns about a gallon per hour which makes it very inexpensive to operate but in some cases such as bush hogging a 4 acre field with the 4 ft. rotary cutter it is a LONG time to get the job done. *
If I were to go with a new tractor it would definitely be a John Deere 6603 4WD. *Probably a little larger than I need at the moment but has the hp to expand to new tasks should the situation arise. *This tractor is pretty much a modern day version of the John Deere 4020 that was so popular many years ago. *It even has the engine that was the offspring from the 404 cubic inch engine used in the 4020 only now it is a 414 cubic inch inline 6. *
If I was going to go used, it would be a toss up between a John Deere 4255 4WD or an International Harvester 1256 or a 1066/86 4WD.
The above tractors burn about 5 gallons per hour but can run much bigger and more efficient equipment not to mention skid a lot bigger log if need be. *With the exception of the Power Shift transmission which was a VERY reliable unit these tractors are all very simple and pretty much bulletproof design tractors that have proven their worth over many years of service.

But now it's the ATTACHMENTS where I have the wish list!
1. *Include that thar trailer it sits on!
2. *Take back the 6 tooth ripper - not worth dragging around!
3. *Add one of those cool "thumbs" to pick up logs.
4. *Fill the back tires with water or some other organic substance for weight!
5. *Add a wagon.
6. *Add a post hole digger.
7. *Add a PTO generator.
8. *Add a *"digger thingy" - you know what I mean!
9. *Add a plow, harrow and disk (hey this is my dream!!!)
10. *While you are at it - include a nice concrete floor 12 by 48 shed open along one long side to garage all my attachments. *;D
11. *OK, how about an enclosed driver area for when it's pouring down rain!
12. *One of those posts to hold a roll of fencing.
13. *pallet forks (already have the skid thingy. ;-))
14. *Free on site quarterly maintenance for life. *;D ;D

Any tractor that would take all the above attachments and the color would be green and I would call it my John (after my grandfathers middle name) and deer (after my hunting preference) and I could say something very clever like " nothing runs like a deer" Nifty huh.

One of my customers has the Kubota M105. That tractor really impressed me! It would do anything I need here in East Texas.

JD 7920 with front and rear duals and a 743 loader. Unless somebody also wants to spring for a 60' air seeder, then I'll take a 9220 instead.
