OK, so now that my drain field has flooded in these storms we are planning a set of drains out in the pasture to keep the water table down in the winter. The drains would feed into a pit with a sump pump that would send the water to the neighbors ditch system which he said we could feed into (he would rather our property drain off so it dries out faster too).
Anyhow - a PTO driven trencher would be good to have not only for that but to bury the tons of hoses I have going all over and to run electricity out to other places...
I did a google but seems it hasn't been marketed yet? Anyone ever see or hear of one? Haven't checked rental places yet.

Here is a link to one:

However, do you have a rental place remotely close? I'm thinking you could get one for a weekend and take care of most jobs you want to work on. The other thought would be a backhoe attachment which you would get more use out of in the long run.

Yes, we'll check the rental places because I also think one or two weekends would do it. *A back hoe on the tractor is between 7 and 8 thousand but maybe could rent one of those too...
Does the backhoe have to be built to a certain tractor brand or are they interchangeable like PTO attachments? We could also rent a backhoe attachment but the Mahindra place doesn't rent stuff - liability and all that. They sell and rebuy it. ;-)
Yes there are pto driven trenchers for tractors... but they are very expensive... I also think tools like this should be "rented" rather than bought, and in this case you rent the whole trencher rather than the attachment for your tractor...
I also think a person is better off renting a back hoe rather than buying one for a tractor... A hoe puts a lot of stress on a tractor and farm tractors aren't built for much of that kind of abuse...
I'm not saying they don't work, i'm saying unless you baby them, you shorten the life of your tractor too much.
