Hay Tractor Buffs..

I have a A/C D-17 (1958 model) that runs like a champ. The whole clutch assembly and the brakes were replace around 2 yrs. ago. One of the rear tires will need replaced in the future..

My question is what kind of price should I expect to get from it if I decide to sell it? There are no attachments with it and it still has the quick release hitch system instead of the 3-point set up..

I bought it just after the clutch and the brakes were done. I used it with a borrowed blade to dress my driveway but I decided it's a bit too large (tall) for safety reasons..

I dunno.. More to a collector, less to a user who wants work... Where ever you be... look into whats there similar and go from there...

When things get that old and are still good it depends on things like who needs what and when. Assuming this wasn;'t a gift, you know what you paid and you also know what you did to maintain it.

Not sure in your specific area but locally, that would run between $4K and $6K. *A collector would give more but of course waiting around for that to happen could be years. *It appears to be a nice, solid tractor that would fit any small farm. *We have a 1958 or so Ford 801 Powermaster that is similar however a bit smaller. *They run $3K and up. *

If anyone in your local area were considering a tractor, this would be a great unit to grab. *The newer tractors are 5 and 6 times as much and I doubt they will be around in 50 years.

Is that the 4 cyl gas unit or the 6 cyl diesel? *They also provided a propane conversion for that style tractor.

If you had more attachments so the tractor could do more things, and of course depending on what things get done, where ever you are means more to buyers.

I have a friend wbho dropped 30 grand on a JD tractor, but it came with lots of attachments. Just about anything a JD can have..

He can dig a trench, move snow feed his saw mill, and of course twitch logs. It cuts hay, and makes bales.. It has a brush hog too..

Collectors are funny people. OT maybe, but I have a 81 850 yammi triple better than new..

This is so far from any blue book it is worth what ever anyone will pay. More than a few times I have heard people ask how much?

My reply is the same How much, so far no has hit the magic figure. This is now a 2nd bike to me. I don't need it, I just like it. In 02 in Spring I painted it with the face of Liberty looking thru a flag like design. I can hang the tank on the wall and just enjoy that.

What's it worth? What ever any one is willing to pay is the answer.

This tractor has a few things against it... It doesn't have a 3 point hitch, it has AC's snap coupler. This is a huge negative for a user tractor. Yes it can be converted, but not cheaply...

It's gas powered, and with $3.00 + gas, no one wants to use a gas tractor anymore.

And, Allis Tractors have a low resale, and aren't collected nearly as much as Deere tractors are.

Also, in the last year, older tractors have took a dive in prices. I'm holding onto several right now just for this reason.

On the other side of the coin, a D17 is a decent tractor, and hopefully the right person will come along for it!
