Right now I have a 1956 Ford 640 in good shape, but all I need to do these days is brush hog and plant food plots. I've been thinking of something smaller that would do those jobs better. Maybe a 4-wheel drive.

The Ford is too fast to use a tiller and a tiller would be very useful. My 67 acres is mostly woods with some spots that need mowed and a couple small fields I could plant with either a veggie garden or a wildlife food plot.

Since I'm on a budget, this would be a used tractor. I see my Ford advertised for just over $3,000. I might be able to go to $7,500 if I could sell the Ford.

It's very very hard (but not impossible) to get a "decent" used compact 4wd tractor for that amount of $$$....

They won't take the abuse the older farm tractors did so beware buying a used one...

Right now I use a 30+ year old Troy-Built for the veggie garden and we have 2 riding mowers so my wife & I can both mow the grass. The brush hog is for the heavier stuff.

Our 67 acres is mostly old abandoned strip mine property, but it has really bounced back with a lot of good trees, etc.

Since the Ford is in good shape, I might be better off keeping it. I'm just thinking out loud.

I think your right, if the Ford is in good shape your better off keeping it...

Keep in mind that "more than one pass" with a 3 point rototiller is just as good as one slow pass "if" you learn how to do it properly... The trick is to get a GOOD tiller and don't get it too wide, so you have plenty of power to run it... Also if your tilling much growth, let it die down for a few days after tilling it the first or second time...
