I am surprised that I haven't seen this book mentioned at the top of the list on this book board! What a great book it is - I am reading it again for the 3rd time now.
Also reading: How to Build your Dream Cabin in the Woods. Geared more towards those who are "vacationing" than wanting to live in the woods (there is a whole long section about 'make sure you LIKE being alone and can do without shopping malls!') but has some great plans for simple cabins, mainly log.
Another favorite is Woodswoman: Living Alone in the Adirondack Wilderness. Great inspiration for us gals!
A very entertaining read (and one that I think every spoiled brat I know needs to read) is anything by Louise Rich, starting with We Took to the Woods. You want to read about making do and being happy about it!
If you haven't read any of these, give them a try! Good ideas and inspiration both. :D
