One of the better books I have read on preparation did not have any "how to" in it, but rather gave some real level-headed information on the contingencies we could encounter and the way we should think about them. It is called Our Own Worst Enemy - Asking the Right Questions About Security to Protect You, Your Family, and America (http://www.amazon.com/Our-Own-Worst-Enemy-Questions/dp/0446580430/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-5719118-4061506?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1207317302&sr=1-1) by Randall Larsen.
I mention this book because it was a key ingredient in my review of our prep status to include larger global issues and not merely "storm prep". I searched for information that could give me a rational assessment of "larger" threats and insert sanity in a process that can produce a lot of worry and misinformation. I guess this book is where I would start if I were at the place where my prep was expanding beyond weather related issues and I wanted to get up to speed quickly.
