This drought has gone on For so long
That the cacti have shrivelled:
Even so, it has begun to rain Again
And I get ready to plant more seed,
Just in case.
The thunder hurries by, Leaves us dry,
But we wait,
The clouds do fly, Across the sky,
But we wait,
The wind blows hot, the wind blows cold,
Life goes on, we grow old,
But we wait.

I really like this one, wish it were longer.
Makes me think of the story about the mule who would only say "This too will pass".

Well, the rain has come, but not near here, and flooded way up north, We, instead have had *a little sprinkle, with a thunderstorm and a dust storm on the same afternoon; and not so long ago, a high wind, smoke-filled, and 108 degrees. It, too shall pass: and then? ;)

We wait.
We wait and feel the fell of dark
Clouds across the clods of earth
Which are washed away in downpours' streams.
Not so long ago, we prayed for rain:
But not for as much as this.
If we were all to have our wishes,
Would we not be confused by bliss?
