does anyone grow and store their own grain. ?
I am interested in doing this for our animals. We will have a small flock of chickens , a few cows and some pigs . just small scale farming.
We will be having our animals out in the pasture but i thought for an emergency winter supply and maybe an extra income i could do this on a small scale farm. I have relative who i can borrow machinery, but was thinking how i do the storing part ?
I can do anywhere from 3-5 acres we have to dedicate to these crops
I might even do 2 acres of hay for our own supply and some extra cash.
any help on this would be great
:)
thanks

Yeah,
55 gallon sealable barrels work well for storing critter grain.
Used barrels sell for about $10 each around here.

Thanks
That is good to know.
It seems so simple , i guess i just over thought it ::)
I was under the impression it was to be dried , high pressure steaming or some other type of process.
So it is as simple as harvesting and storing
As long as they are air tight , it should last through the season ?
thanks Martin
