Howdy folks. This is a very nice place you have here.

I just got started reading. There is lots of practical experience here.

My husband overcame a diagnosis of low thyroid. He drinks lots of water, eats right, and walks alot.

I started walking with him. A few weeks ago, I put in 18 miles in two days. Then my thyroid started acting up. I'm 51. My temperature dropped, I became irritable, and began experiencing extreme depressive states that last for days. Taking kelp seems to help get my temperature normal again. If I don't take the kelp, within a week my temperature falls again.

I get too hot and then too cold. My memory is not what it used to me

I also began a strict healthy diet. And I began consuming lemon water and other such things so as to detox my body.

I don't want to take synthetic drugs.

Does anyone here have any experience in this area and have come out to the good?

Much Obliged...

:)

Summary: Self-treatment rarely ever helps in the long term, but there are naturally derived hormone replacement medicines available.

I understand how awful it can be, but the medicine does help quite a bit.

They say simply painting a quarter sized iodine spot on your body will help. Do it once a day, or more often if it fades before 24hrs are up. In normal thyroid individuals the iodine does not absorb for at least 24hrs while in hypothyroidism it absorbs quickly. You can put the spots on your abdomen or thigh where it won't show. Use a different spot each day. The iodine simply absorbs through the skin like many medications do.
