View Full Version : Ezekiel Bread
See Jim's recipe for ezekiel bread under scottie12, and my comment re same.
I should have posted it here, but forgot. Sorry about that.
It is a sprouted whole grain bread, low glycemic, flourless bread made of the same things suggested in ezekiel for a well rounded diet, or something.
I get the kind in the purple wrapper found in freezers of most grocery stores round here instead of baking it.
It has raisons and cinnamon, and is so filling i use only one slice with organic peanut butter or organic cream cheese on it, or just plain. It's expensive, but goes a long way around here.
Ezekiel 4:9
"Take also unto thee, wheat and barley and beans and millet and spelt and put them in one vessel, and make bread of it."
Complete protein, no trans fat.
It has info about the virtue of sprouting on wrapper. No time or inclination to type that. love, alma

* Alma I wonder if this is the sprouted bread recipe that I saw many years ago in TMEN and wanted to try but couldn't remember what issue it was in. *I'm going to check it out and see if the recipe is the one I'm looking for. *Thanks for the heads up on it.
Help! Alma I can't find this recipe and I really want to try it! When I tried doing a google search the recipes weren't for sprouted bread which is the kind I'm interested in. Is the recipe in the reader's recipe section on this board or where?

Yellow,
If you find that Ezekial bread isn't the recipe you're looking for....do a search for Dr. McCay's Miracle Loaf (Cornell Bread)....there's a sprouted version of this popular 'health' bread....I can remember reading about it a couple times in TMEN.

Try this.
Ezekiel Bread
INGREDIENTS:
·2 1/2 cups wheat berries
·1 1/2 cups spelt flour
·1/2 cup barley
·1/2 cup millet
·1/4 cup dry green lentils
·2 tablespoons dry Great Northern beans
·2 tablespoons dry kidney beans
·2 tablespoons dried pinto beans
·4 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
·1 cup honey
·1/2 cup olive oil
·2 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast
·2 tablespoons salt
DIRECTIONS:
1.Measure the water, honey, olive oil, and yeast into a large bowl. Let sit for 3 to 5 minutes.
2.Stir all of the grains and beans together until well mixed. Grind in a flour mill. Add fresh milled flour and salt to the yeast mixture; stir until well mixed, about 10 minutes. The dough will be like that of a batter bread. Pour dough into two greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pans.
3.Let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until dough has reached the top of the pan.
4.Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 45 to 50 minutes, or until loaves are golden brown.

Thanks for the recipe. We grind our own grain for breads and I have all of these grains in my food storage so I'll start it today for tonight. Thanks :)

Has anyone tried the Ezekiel mix at Walton Feeds? I love Ezekiel bread, and thought that might be a good answer.
