Read an article in todays paper saying people who suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis and are on Humira, Enbrel, Remicade, and another med I don't remember the name of, now have to watch out for histoplasmosis!
Since I remember my late brother telling me some cavers catch it by breathing in the spores in a cave with lots of bats I did a google search on it. I put "histoplasmosis + symptoms" in the search box then clicked on the Mayo Clinic article at the top of the list it brought up. Article was well written and easily understood by the average person, not too technical. As I suspected, it's not really something I'm in danger of catching but those who have chickens or the like and are on one of these drugs might want to read the article and check with their doctor about it. Don't want to scare anyone but those of us with a "compromised/supressed immune system" need to be more careful at times.
