Let me add my best wishes and hope you make a full recovery. My mother is currently in the hospital with what was originally thought to be ovarian cancer. Turns out it was stage 3 perotineal cancer. 7 hours of surgery and 3 days in ICU. She is in a recovery room and the doctors hope to start chemo therapy is a 3 or 4 weeks. This showed up over a two week period after she had surgery to remove her thyroid. Until then, she had no symptoms.

Alma, Sorry to hear of your latest bout with your health.

Hopefully you've seen the last of that.

Alma,

Glad to see you here! We recently had a friend who beat breast cancer the first time, have it show up again several years later. It affects so many people and touches many lives.

I too hope that you are through with it. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Good to see you back Alma. A very interesting site on the subject is "Dr Day.com". She was a trauma surgeon who went through some very tough times with that stuff. Check her out when you have a chance. Actually, all of us can benifit from her story, and findings.

Alma,

Sending prayers for a speedy recovery. You are right on about the breast cancer/ovarian cancer connection. I used to work for the breast cancer education/screening group here. We would help women get their screenings.

My Aunt died of ovarian cancer the day after my son was born.

For all of you women, if you have a bloated or "full" feeling, change of cycle, just feel "off" - talk to your doc. Many times, there are no symptoms untill it is very far advanced.

If you have had a hysterectomy, you may still be at risk for ovarian cancer. Not all doctors take out the ovaries. Even when the ovaries are removed, there is some tissue left behind. You can STILL develop cancer.

If you have had breast cancer, you are up to 60% more likely to develop ovarian cancer. IT IS THE SAME CANCER! and vica versa.

Hope you are better soon.
