Howdy.
Anyone else have runaway yeast problems as a result of too many antibiotics for too many years? My problems have been recurring for most of my life, but now father time has also kicked in that wild card of lost youth causing anything I get to be harder to mitigate. I recently started a serious pro biotic treatment and colon cleanse self treatment, but it's too early to tell how well it's going to work over the long haul. Anyone else been down the candidasis road too?OzarksJohn

I did for years. Doc gave me antibiotics when I wasn't sick and now I have arrethymia. I hate antibiotics unless they're really, really neccessary.
Eating yogurt daily (or 2-3 times a week depending) has really helped me alot. Just plain old cheapo yogurt does the trick. Acidiphoulus pills can be found for pretty cheap and are fantastic too. They replace the good gut bacteria.
When I've had bad problems, I've taken an acidiphoulus pill and eat yogurt too. That has helped too.
Cutting down on sugar also helps. The yeast lives off the sugar so it kills their food source.
Um..if you have problems "there" as a guy, treatment is easy too.
Don't use shower gel, that dries out your skin.
Use Athlete's Foot creme "there" after showers to help combat yeast.
Change your undies 2x a day if you sweat alot.
Tea tree oil has been said to help there as a guy, but I'd think it'd burn real bad. If you find a softgel acidiphoulus capsule w/ liquid acidiphoulus, you can break one of those open and put that "there". It helps too.
Hope this wasn't weird lol!

Kat,
Thanks for the reply. I guess you and I have suffered and are suffering the same symptoms from the same maladies caused by the same pharmaceuticals. >:(
I've been gorping down yogurt and a culture fortified lowfat milk by the quarts for several days. :P Also have had a slug or two of buttermilk as well. I've been trying to cut back on the simple sugar laced foods too. Have been eating uncooked rolled oats with the cultured milk for breakfast. Was hitting the metamucil real serious too for several days, took a 48 hour break and deemed it necessary to hit it hard once more yesterday to "accelerate" things again.
In my case I think this problem likely reared it's ugliness when I was about 13 years old and has been an off and on thing for me for over 30 years now. Only recent years did I begin to understand that my worsening external symptoms were actually part of my internal ongoing permanent problem that too many childhood (and recent)antibiotics had exacerbated or actually caused. My recent severe bouts have been over the last 8 or so years which roughly coincided with a bi annual (or more) bronchitis or sinus infection that required antibiotics to cure ???. I've had lots of phantom aches, pains, insomnia, chronic fatigue, and somewhat a litany of "miseries" that may have been a symptom of this yeast monster for the last few years. I guess if I get it pounded down and get myself cleaned out I'll know if I'm sick in other ways or just the Pillsbury dough boy about to pop. ;D Thanks again for the comeback.OzarksJohn

Sure!
Oh I forgot to add that many of the yeast issues I've had is that I'm allergic to sulfa antibiotics, like amoxicillin. I am only given penicillin and I've not had any problems with yeast.
You might want to ask your doctor about that. I'd make sure I'm not allergic to penicillin just incase.

If you have a systemic yeast infection (whole body) you need to ask your doctor about Diflucan it is very expensive but it stops yeast in its tracks in just a couple doses. I also use xylitol instead of sugar for sweetning it kills yeasts and bad bacteria's which may prevent you getting infections to begin with.

John, I do pray that you can work past all the damage done by the excessive anitbiotics. It can be nasty. After doing some research, we are convinced that my Dad got luekemia because of constant high doses of antibiotics to fight a prolonged sinus infection - which wasn't a bacterial infection after all, but mold and yeast. A lot of great information about yeast infections and the mycotoxins that destroy your body can be found by reading the books written by Doug A. Kaufmann. "The Fungus Link 2" actually started my Dad on the road back to health when the doctors have given him six weeks to live. That was almost eight years ago; he's 72 now and doing great.
You can find Kaufmann's work at http://www.know-the-cause.com/.
Best wishes!
