Being unemployed and uninsured for quite a while, I couldn't afford the $100 a month puffer for my asthma. Left untreated, it was getting so bad I'd have to stop half way up or down the steps to breathe. Walking to the mailbox took two stops on the way and my driveway isn't all that long!

My brother found some stuff on the internet called Respitrol, and bought three bottles for me to try. After a couple of weeks, I can already tell the difference. It will cost less than half of what the prescription stuff did, and has no side effects that I can tell. The other upside is that in reading the list of ingredients there are LOTS of health benefits to this stuff!

What I want to know, is anyone else here using it or any of the ingredients separately?

Here's what's in it:
Shiitake mushroom extract
Cordyceps mushroom extract
maitake mushroom extract
beta glucans chain (1,2/1,6)
Gum Traganth Powder
Glucosamine sulfate
arabinogalactan
Acemannans from aloe vera leaf extract 200:1
Guar gum
Ghatti tree gum
rice starch
xylitol

I've found awesome information on the web about most of these ingredients . . . but not sure how much I believe yet. Anyone selling anything has to be taken with a large dose of caution. But I AM breathing better!

well good to hear that. How much better on a scale of one to ten?
I knew an old man who had asthma really bad, he could hardly walk to the bathroom. He wrote and told me that he improved dramatically when he gave up all dairy foods, took natural supplements and low concentrations, avoid all junk, no sugar and white flour. He improved so much he could lift haybales and outdo his son. Just thought I would pass it on for what it's worth.

How much better? I have at least double the lung capacity I did. They say it will increase up to 5x in three months, but it hasn't been that long. When I started, I'd have to stop half way up the steps, then rest again at the top. Now I do them all and I'm not gasping like a fish. I'm not running by any means, but it's sure better. So if I was at 2 on a scale of 1-10, I'm probably now at 4 or 5. 10 is a marathon runner, and I'd be happy with being able to mow a lawn or ride a bike without dropping dead - a 7 or 8! (Or even keeping up with my friends on a shopping trip!!) ;D

They say the cordycepts mushroom extract is what the Chinese Olympic team took - they were so good, they had to be tested for drug use, and they passed the test just fine. It was just the mushrooms that helped increase their lung capacity!

I may try that stuff alone next time, and see what happens.

Strong shot of coffee..... (http://ezinearticles.com/?Coffee-and-Asthma?&id=59422)

In Scotland, as evidenced by the Edinburgh Medical Journal, asthma and coffee are good for each other. While not recommended for exclusive treatment, one to two cups of strong coffee may help open airways.

Honey, Thyme, and a lot of prayer and I no longer have asthma attacks! I give God the glory but I do believe the honey and thyme helped! I know that may not help everybody but thought I'd share it in case anybody would like to try it. I love the taste of honey and thyme and of course prayer can never hurt! ;) I'm always interested in learning more natural remedies as opposed to synthetic man-made drugs. Especially after the news report last night about unregulated drugs being made in other countries. We have no idea what may be in those drugs. I wish you all well.

I used a T spoon of honey and sprikled the thyme really good on top of it each morning and any time I felt an attack coming on. Hope that helps!
