Well, i posted earlier about getting a MRI. They said because of privacy act, the only way to get the results is they can mail the results to me or they can fax the results to the doctor. Since the drs appt isn't for another week, i asked them to mail them to me. So 5 days go by and i called and they said they'd make sure to put it in the mail today.....after i've been waiting all this time they're just getting around to doing it. So i thought about it awhile and then i called them back and said to go ahead and fax the results to the dr's office. And then i gave them the local library's fax number. And then i called the library and told them to call me when the fax comes in. And then the library called and said the fax was in. Pretty slick. I dont normally lie but damn, i paid for the darn thing not the doctor. And as far as the privacy act, the librarian didn't show the least bit of interest.

;) ;) ;)good for you.
I tell you it is hard to get any information any more. Mom has filled out forms at every Doctors Office stating that I can receive any of her medical information. But every time I call and identify myself I have to go through a lot to get any information. A lot of times it is just to make sure that the bills are paid correctly. I tell them I know that they have permission on file, but I guess they are to lazy to look or have lost it. I tell them that if their record keeping is this bad, can the medical care be any better?

Yeah, that's quite true how can you trust them with medical information if they can't find the permission slips you signed???
My mom is 85 so i've went through the same thing with her. She can' t do her own scheduling of appointments or talking to medical people because she can't hear well or process what they're saying. So when i call a medical office on her behalf they'll say they can only talk to her and i have to explain over and over she can't talk to them because she can't hear.

Insurance and drug companies are mostly to thank for this problem of getting medical information.
The parent pharmaceutical company of the shots I take is in trouble for ordering their reps to pull patient info to reccomend their shots for problems that they aren't meant for etc............
Nice. Makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside.
