I'm doing something new today since I have a little time on my hands. I'm making bread. Now meat, well I can cook pretty much any kind of meat good enough to make you slap your Granny. But I've never made bread.

I'm using a couple of recipes from Allrecipes.com, the Amish white bread and the Challah II. I had an issue with the Challah bread not rising, the recipe said it would double in an hour, but it took about two hours. In the interim I got bored and decided to make the white bread. It's rising like gangbusters. I don't know if it's the yeast or the different ways I proofed it. (Proofing yeast is a term I learned today. I've been saying it to everybody, it really makes it sound like you know what you're doing.)

At any rate, I've had a good deal of fun and think I'll make it a regular thing. Well, if the stuff comes out edible at least.....

Keep at it bud. We stopped buying bread at the gorcery. Found a simple recipe that turns out consistently well and we use it for sandwich bread:

It was quite fun and it came out great. My Wife makes bread every now and then, but this will be something I do on a regular basis.

The only problem is that I find warm bread irresistable.
