Hey Bookwormom; The only thing I use it for is pre-soaking seeds to get them to sprout faster, expesially if they are older seeds.

It gets blood out of clothes pretty well too. :D
and it can be used like a mouthwash if you have a sore in your mouth,
bad breath, a sore throat or had a tooth removed (I think it tastes terrible though).
II wouldn't swallow it though (YUCK!!!!)

My dentist suggests wetting the toothbrush with hydrogen peroxide instead of water. When I started doing that, my breath improved and I noticed much less build up on my teeth.

Whenever I start to get an ear infection, I put H Peroxide in my ear, slide in the end of a Q-tip to get it deep inside for a second, and then pack it with a cotton ball piece. Go to bed, wake up - no more earache!

You can mix it half and half with baking soda to brush your teeth and tongue. My doc told me that you can swallow up to two teaspoons of it a day and it won't hurt you; but I prefer not to swallow it AT ALL if I can help it. Nasty and aftertastes kinda metallic.

I use it for any type of infection, including gums. If I pull a splinter, I dip the area in Peroxide - several times. Sometimes it will bubble out a splinter that isn't in too deep. Peroxide bubbles like crazy; if you have a bad sore you can cut it with a little water so it doesn't sting but still bubbles. I was recently told that you can spray weeds like leafy spurge with peroxide and it kills them but I haven't tried it yet. We always have 3-4 bottles lying around. It is cheap and effective.

My vet uses it like ipecac for dogs. Years back, I dropped my digitalis bottle, and the stupid dog just started swallowing faster than I could pick up the pills. The vet shoved H2O2 down her, and the pills came up within minutes. That dog lived many more years.

I have read that some alternative practitioners inject it to treat various diseases like cancer.

It is the best stain remover on earth.

When I was young, I used it dozens of times to "bleach" my hair. It turned it bright orange, but when you are a teen that appears to be "cool".

It works great as an astringent for zits.

It helps to temporarily bleach out freckles, age spots, moles, birthmarks and any other skin coloration.

Doctors use it to help loosen wax in clogged ear canals. It will help to "bubble" out tight wax deposits.

I know this is an old thread, but here is some good info on H2O2 if anyone is still interested.

I use peroxide mixed with water, about a 1/4 cup of peroxide to 1 pint of water and mist seedlings with it. Just spritz the soil till its damp with the peroxide water and then later you can water as usual. It will prevent damping off if they happen to get too cool.

Have a great day!

Food grade hydrogen peroxide is supposed to heal everything. I think that's a false claim. I gave it to my dog who had cancer. It may have helped but it didn't cure it. I don't know for sure if it helped or not. I used to put it in his water with apple cider vinegar and eissac tea and he was on other supplements. I will say when I stopped the hydrogen peroxide, apple cider vinegar, eissac tea, and supplements he went down hill fast. He passed away Feb. 12. But while he was on all that he was doing great. I had to stop for a while so he could have a needle aspiration done under anesthesia and then I stopped for awhile when he got diarrhea. I really think the combination I had him on was keeping him in a kind of remission. Still having lots of regrets. Anyway, I don't think taking food grade hydrogen peroxide can hurt as long as you follow the directions. If you don't, it can be toxic. The stuff you buy in the store is not food grade and should not be taken internally. I know vets give it to dogs to make them vomit though but other than that it shouldn't be taken internally.

My wife is a holistic nurse (RN) and her practice does IV hydrogen peroxide therapy. She personally hasn't tried it, but the patients said it works great. Do not apply hydrogen peroxide to cuts, becasue it actually will further damage the skin tissue. Disinfected water lavage is the best.

Daff--For cancer, they give it by IV because the cells cannot live in a high 02 environment. Same with Bicarb, it's given by IV to raise O2levels in the body.
There is another therapy where they take blood from the host then inject it back into a SIM like the leg or butt muscle. The idea is that the muscle itself should make antibodies even if the white blood cells are overwhelmed. I think they call it blood vaccines or something like that.

Don't feel any guilt about your dog. Some things cannot be fixed because you find them too late. That's just the way it is. You just give them as good of time as possible for as long as you can. Every living thing dies. And some diseases are just too advanced to fix.

For wound cleansing I have always found 1/2 h2o2 and 1/2 normal saline great. Also I favor old fashioned Dakin's 1/2 strength for wounds also. I mean wounds that require daily dressings.
I also remember packing infected wounds with brown sugar, white in a pinch. A few years ago they were marketing a 'miracle' wound powder for an obscene amount of money. Looked at the ingredient (only one)..... maltodextrin!

I use food grade peroxide when I have colds or the flu. It knocks it out in less than 24 hours normally. I also use it as a preventative when I eat questionable foods. As long as it is use with moderation and common sense, I feel it does help. I normally take 5 drops in juice because I can taste it when I use water. Hubby used it and upped his drops to 20 when he had lyme disease.

I use it for the beginning of a cold - a few drops in each ear at the first sign of a scratchy sore throat to stop the cold in its tracks.

I also use it as a cleanser - one spray bottle of hydrogen peroxide and one spray bottle of vinegar. Squirt on surfaces for an anti-bacterial cleanser. (Can't put in the same bottle - must both be fresh) I used it for cleaning when a relative had MRSA.

rivamom, what concentration do you use when you take it internally?

Putting it in your ears for a sore throat is a new wrinkle. I have to try that.

I have 35% food grade peroxide. I use a glass dropper and put 5-10 drops depending on severity of cold in about a 16 oz glass of juice. Hubby got hardcore one time and graduallly upped his amouts to 20 drops over the course of a month to help his lyme disease. I give the kids 4 drops in an 8 oz glass of juice.

I get the peroxide from an Amish feed store. You can also find it online from a company with Eden in the name (it has been awhile). It helped with the lyme disease. He still needed very large doses of antibiotics but he was only on them a month as opposed to 6 months.

I use hydrogen peroxide for athlete's foot. Just pour over feet and pat dry - this will usually clear it up with hours. Stopped the itch for me in minutes.

When I was a meatcutter I always seemed to have infections on my hands. I started washing my hands with Peroxide a couple times a day and had much less trouble with infection. You can see it bubble up when it gets on infected areas, I love the stuff.

I disagree strongly with the use of hydrogen peroxide IV therapy.

Peroxide IV therapy greatly raises pulse ox. In cancer patients, they can also use baking soda for the same thing because the blood is usually acidic. I know many people who have had both. They think it has helped them. Plus it isn't torture like the chemo big pharma sells.

I'm sorry but I have to strongly disagree with the use of hydrogen peroxide IVs.

And I also have to say for many years the treatments for cancer were worse than the disease itself simply because research was being squashed by one huge group who annointed themselves as "cancer specialists". What happened is they ended up with all the research monies -- and for over 50 years all they did was kill the patients with radiation and chemo. I am speaking specifically about M.D. Anderson Hospital in Texas.

That has changed now. Other labs and brilliant scientists put the word out worldwide for volunteer researchers and literally thousands and thousands of people responded, and they have come up with astonishing treatments. Their work is continuing.

M.D. Anderson? Well, now that the proverbial finger has been pointed at them, they only gulped and did a promo about a "cancer machine" they developed. Uh, don't go to M.D. Anderson, and sure as heck don't let them put you in their "cancer machine". And please don't donate money to that place. It's horrible what they've done to people.

Thanks to the other research labs and the brilliant scientists who are working on this, cancer is quickly loosing it's scare factor.
