Hi all I've been around the site for a while, just not this forum. However last night I think I got a touch of food poisoning. I was sick as the proverbial dog. Things are a little better today, I am slowly rehydrating with ginger ale and gatorade, but I still don't have much of an appetite. Anyone have any suggestions for stopping the nausea? It's killing me here. Thanks

I'm sure you're feeling better by now Matthew, but for future reference, try holding an ice cube in your hand when you are nauseated or have motion sickness.

Nausea can often be helped or eliminated by sour flavors, like lemon. It works for me, I just cut a slice of lemon and lick it, or sip lemon juice and water (no sugar, just the sour flavor).

Howdy
Some times I eat a couple of the soft pepermint candies. That seems to settle things down, most times.

i saw ginger tea on the list; ginger in any form should work- it is a natural anti-nausea medication.
Even myth busters proved it true- even better for motion sickness than dramamine

Well this is an interesting coincidence, as I believe I was food poisoned today. Today I found a takeout container of Spicy Chinese Chicken in the back of the refrigerator. I mentally thanked my thoughtful wife for bring some home from her shopping expedition earlier in the week. Shortly after consuming the tasty morsels (with 5 little hoy sauce packets), my wife comes in a little bug eyed and tells me that she had left the chicken in the car for the last two near 100`F days and put it in the back of the refrigerator (unmarked) so I wouldn’t eat it (??!!).
Shortly I began to feel a little nauseous (it may have been psychosomatic) so I played down expecting the worst. I remembered that I had some gel caps of pure peppermint, ginger and fennel oils (excellent for stomach & intestinal problems). So I took two, shortly my stomach felt better so I took an ounce of Colloidal Silver and waited until my tummy problem passed on. I can not say my guts feel exactly right but I am not hurting. It is now 6 hours later and all is well (so far).
I know the hot sauce can stop the growth of some bacteria (making raw oysters some what safer to eat), both peppermint & ginger oils can be good antiseptics; the CS may have helped too. Maybe Chinese hot & spicy is a really great food preservative? I don’t know, maybe I was just lucky (or maybe its too soon to call).

gravol ;) ;D
but ginger ale is great, if you don't like the bubbles in it, put a spoon full of sugar in it, and stir it up. gets rid of the fizz

Most ginger ale today is ginger flavored and doesn't have ginger in it anymore - cost savings.
